Course Overview
This section explores the functions of each physiological system in the body and provides a review of general terminology associated with disease and injury. The focus is how disease can be de ned as an impairment of health that interferes with the body’s ability to function normally; as appropriate to Level 1 coursework. This class lays the foundation for Levels 2/3 Pathophysiology study of how disease and trauma alter the normal functioning of the body. In this section, trainees will learn general assessment principles using the panchamaya model, adaptations for common pathologies and applications of asana, pranayama and dhyanam using a 12 step class formula based off Larry Payne’s work in the lineage of T. Krishnamacharya, as well as delivery methodology for clients.

Tess O’Hern DPT, C-IAYT is the Co-Director of AlcheMe Yoga Therapist Training, and a Doctor of Physical Therapy & Yoga Therapist. She currently works for the county, overseeing physical therapy treatment plans for children in need of ongoing care. Tess is passionate about integrating yogic tools into her work. She someday hopes to focus on infants and toddlers, to create the best movement habits from the beginning.
