Course Overview

This course provides the principles of appropriate therapeutic sequencing for yoga teachers.

Class lectures provide an introduction to the primary yoga therapy assessment models based upon the teachings of the Yoga Sutras and the lineage of T. Krishnamacharya. Students will learn how to use these models to assess client imbalances, identify contraindications and implement appropriate tools based on client assessments. You will learn broad strokes yoga therapy practices for conditions that include: low back ailments, heart disease, respiratory/energetic imbalances, addiction, digestive ailments, and relationship issues.

This course provides the principles of appropriate therapeutic sequencing. This is a comprehensive exploration in adaptation of yoga sequences to meet the needs of the individuals using the tools of asana, pranayama and dhyanam. Focused attention is on the assessment of an individual needs using the lens of the panchamaya model. Development of specific goals for the individual client is addressed using the principles of vinyasa krama to move the client forward in a sustainable and appropriate manner. This class consists of experiential group practice teaching to assess the ability to design and execute safe yoga therapy sequences.

  • 10/19/24 – Sequencing Through the Lens of the Chakras

Allison Martin Prince C-IAYT, E-RYT 500, CMT

This course is led by Allison Prince. She co-founded Be The Change Yoga and is the School Director for the 200-hour Teacher Training Program. She has been teaching yoga for over 15 years and has taught more than 10,000 hours.

She received her yoga therapist training from AlcheMe Yoga Therapy and specializes in women’s health and fertility. She is passionate about weaving the subtle body practices into her yoga classes, including mantras, mudras, and meditation kriyas. She has also trained in Kundalini Yoga and is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Functional Medicine.
