SUMMARY:8/15 Pratyahara Practice Part 1 — Softening the Senses
DESCRIPTION:Sensory Therapy Workshop\nJoin us for a transformative yoga workshop centered around the theme of Pratyahara\, the withdrawal of senses. Led by the experienced yoga teacher Chris Henry and accompanied by sound healer Jonah Montes\, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to delve deep into the practice of Pratyahara. Over the course of the practice\, we will explore the profound effects of sensory withdrawal and the use of an Iyengar head wrap as a powerful tool for cultivating this state of inner focus and awareness. \nSpace is limited. \nThis workshop is appropriate for students of all levels and backgrounds. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Workshop Details\n \n \n \n \n \n				 \n\nSaturday\, August 15th\n6:00 – 7:30PM PST\nSpace is limited.\n$30 pre-reg / $40 day of for Part 1\n$75 pre-reg / $95 day of for Parts 1-2\n\n \nThis workshop is appropriate for students of all levels and backgrounds.\n \n \n Register for Part 1\n \n Register for Parts 1-2\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n During the workshop\, Chris and Jonah will guide participants through a comprehensive journey of self-discovery and relaxation. Chris will provide insights into the philosophy of Pratyahara\, while Jonah will share practical instructions on the safe and effective use of the head wrap. The workshop will be thoughtfully structured\, beginning with a gentle one-hour yoga sequence led by Chris. Participants will have the option to either close their eyes or wear the head wrap during the practice\, encouraging a heightened sense of introspection. In the second half of the workshop\, Jonah will lead a 15-minute guided relaxation followed by a 35-minute sound bath experience. Using the soothing sounds of quartz crystal singing bowls\, Jonah will create a deeply immersive and meditative atmosphere\, inviting participants to embrace the transformative power of sound. Throughout this segment\, participants are encouraged to wear the head wrap\, further enhancing their sensory withdrawal experience. The workshop will conclude with Chris guiding a brief session of pranayama\, leaving participants feeling rejuvenated\, centered\, and connected to their inner selves.\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \nA two-part immersive series exploring the yogic concept of Pratyahara—the practice of gently turning awareness away from external stimulation and toward the inner landscape. \nYou may register for one or both classes. \nPart 1 — Softening the Senses \n\nDate/Time: 8/15/2026 @ 6:00 – 7:30 PM\nCandlelit Slow Flow + Restore\nPrice: Pre-reg is $30 dollars\, day of is $40\n\nStep into a quiet\, candlelit space designed to soften the edges of your day. This 90-minute class blends slow\, intentional movement with restorative stillness\, guiding you toward a more internal experience of your practice. \nWith dim lighting and extended holds\, you’ll begin to shift attention away from external distractions and toward breath\, sensation\, and subtle awareness. This workshop serves as an introduction to pratyahara—creating the conditions for the senses to settle and the mind to quiet. Perfect for all levels\, this class offers a grounding\, accessible entry point into deeper yogic practices. \n\nPart 2 — Turning Inward \n\nDate/Time: 9/12/2026 @ 6:00 – 7:30 PM\nPatta Bandha + Shanmukhi Mudra Practice\nPrice: Pre-reg is $45 dollars\, day of is $55\n\nIn this second session\, we deepen the exploration of pratyahara through stillness\, breath\, and supported practice. \nUsing a gentle cloth wrap (patta bandha) to support the arms\, we’ll explore Shanmukhi Mudra\, a traditional practice that helps quiet the senses and direct awareness inward. The wrap allows the body to release effort\, creating the conditions for deeper rest and introspection. This workshop includes gentle preparatory movement\, guided breathwork\, and extended time in supported stillness. No prior experience is needed. \n\n  \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Chris Henry\, Experienced Yoga Teacher\, Teacher Trainer\n Chris Henry is an esteemed yoga instructor who has completed 500-hours of training since embarking on his journey in 2010. He has since been deeply inspired by the remarkable impact it has had on individuals within his family\, local and global communities. Recognizing the multitude of health and wellness benefits associated with yoga\, Chris has embraced it as an integral part of his life as a student and teacher. Chris’s unique teaching style harmoniously anchors the principles of power vinyasa and Vini-yoga. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Drawing from personal experiences\, including injuries sustained during his collegiate athletic career and the everyday stresses inherent in the human condition\, Chris attests to the efficacy of yoga in fostering a profound connection between the body and mind\, and ultimately found as a transformational tool. \nWith an primary focus on the quality of breath\, Chris guides his students towards a deeper understanding of themselves as a whole being. By doing this he enables the individual to effectively process their current states\, while encouraging the release of burdens that no longer serve us. Chris extends an open invitation to all practitioners to meet themselves exactly where they are on their journey\, and honor their bodies as they approach the transformative practice of yoga. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Jonah Montes\, Yoga Teacher\n I started teaching Yoga in 2015 because I realized there is so much more to the practice than just the physical benefits: there is healing and growth. As a teacher\, I hope to share the healing aspect of yoga to anyone who is in need of it. I love teaching Yoga because I not only get to contribute to a student’s yoga journey as a guide but also as a witness to the growth and progression they experience through their practice.\n \nMy teaching style is gentle Yin-inspired Restorative Yoga with elements of Viniyoga.
