SUMMARY:4/12 Yoga Therapy + Public Health Course
DESCRIPTION:Course Overview\n \n \n \n \n \n This course explores the various factors that influence health at the macro-level using a public health lens\, while at the same time\, exploring the inner world of the human being using Yoga models to identify and treat imbalances.\nThis transformative course bridges the wisdom of Yoga with the science of Public Health to address the root causes of disease and empower sustainable well-being. Students will explore the macro-level social\, environmental\, and behavioral determinants of health through a public health lens—while simultaneously diving into the inner landscape of the human system using Yoga therapy frameworks rooted in the Yoga Sutras and the Krishnamacharya lineage. \nThrough lecture and experiential practice\, students will gain practical skills in applying yoga therapy models to assess imbalances\, identify contraindications\, and implement appropriate tools for common chronic conditions such as back pain\, heart disease\, respiratory issues\, addiction\, digestive disturbances\, and relational health. \nIn parallel\, the public health component reveals why current health interventions have failed to curb the chronic disease epidemic—and how yoga therapy offers a time-tested\, holistic system to influence behavior change from the inside out. Yoga supports the cultivation of a clear\, rational\, and steady mind\, which is essential for making choices that promote long-term health. \nTrainees will also develop skills in creating\, implementing\, and evaluating group yoga therapy programs\, and gain language to advocate for yoga therapy services in health systems. This course empowers you to become a wellness leader at both the individual and population level—an essential offering in the future of integrative medicine. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Course Details\n \n \n \n \n \n Course Tuition:\n\n$500\nIncluded in 300hr auto-pay\n30 Contact Hours\n\nCourse Dates:\n\nClass 1: 4/12/25\, 8:30 – 11:30 AM – The Human Condition from a Yoga Perspective\nClass 2: 4/26/25\, 8:30 – 11:30 AM – Intro to Yoga Philosophy: How to Alleviate Suffering\nClass 3: 5/18/25\, 8:30 – 11:30 AM – How Yoga Therapy Works + Assessment Models\nClass 4: 6/7/25\, 8:30 – 11:30 AM – The Human Condition from a Public Health Perspective\nClass 5: 6/21/25\, 8:30 – 11:30 AM – Bringing Yoga Therapy into Vulnerable Communities\nClass 6: 9/13/25\, 8:30 – 11:30 AM – The Spine: physical imbalances (strained low back muscles\, herniated discs\, sciatica)\nClass 7: 9/27/25\, 8:30 – 11:30 AM – The Abdomen and Digestion + Yoga Therapy for the Lungs.\nClass 8: 10/11/25\, 8:30 – 11:30 AM – Yoga Therapy for the Heart and Relationships.\nClass 9: 1/25/26\, 8:30 – 11:30 AM – Yoga Therapy for Creating a Balanced Mind.
