DESCRIPTION:Workshop Overview\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\nYoga Nidra\n\nJoin Lisa Espinosa (BTC Yoga Teacher Training Graduate) for a 4-week series where you will learn about the practice of Yoga Nidra. The practice is like a very long savasana\, where you rest in a comfortable position and listen to a guided meditation that rotates your consciousness throughout the body. Yoga Nidra can be defined as: sleep with trace awareness or conscious deep relaxation. Yoga Nidra is a conscious state that occurs between waking consciousness and dreaming consciousness\, also known as “sleepless sleep.” \n\n \n \nWhat are the benefits of yoga nidra?\nThe many benefits of a consistent yoga nidra practice include:\n \n*Decrease in release of stress hormones\n*Decrease in blood pressure levels\n*Decrease in blood glucose levels\n*Pain reduction\n*Improved mood\n*Increased sense of wellness and ease\n*Reduction in anxiety\n*Release of negative samskaras (deeply held impressions in the unconscious mind)\n*Conscious realization of suppressed desires\, emotions\, etc.\n*Experience of profound spiritual insights\n\n \n \n\nWhat do I need to bring?\nYou will be reclined on your yoga mat for about half an hour\, so choose any props that will allow you to remain comfortable. We have blocks\, bolsters\, blankets\, and mats in the studio\, but you are welcome to bring your own. Some like to use a lightweight eye\npillow during their yoga nidra practice. Lisa’s passion for bringing the healing power of yoga to individuals\, particularly those experiencing grief and loss\, is born of \nher own profound loss and the practice of yoga that was a lifeline through those deep waters. Lisa is currently enrolled in Be The Change Yoga’s Advanced 300hr Yoga Teacher Training program.

We will be practicing the poses in ways to help bring awareness to the muscles and alignment for each pose. We will be exploring some of the poses in the first\, second and third series.\n \nCome clear up questions you might have about the poses\, learn variations of the pose that work best for your body\, and leave the workshop with the tools for a more effective practice. Teaching allows here to share what she has come to love and has made a part of her life. Trained at the Ananda School for Yoga and Meditation\, she has an alignment base style but also one that encompasses the whole individual meeting him/her where they are in the moment. She is a certified yoga therapist\, C-IAYT. Her meditation techniques are from the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda. \n					\n				\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Susan has participated in an international yoga study that is indicating that yoga can improve bone strength for someone who has osteoporosis or osteopenia. This is an area of interest for her and she has lead workshops and classes on bone health and yoga in southern California.
