Teaching allows here to share what she has come to love and has made a part of her life. Trained at the Ananda School for Yoga and Meditation\, she has an alignment base style but also one that encompasses the whole individual meeting him/her where they are in the moment. She is a certified yoga therapist\, C-IAYT. Her meditation techniques are from the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda. \n					\n				\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Susan has participated in an international yoga study that is indicating that yoga can improve bone strength for someone who has osteoporosis or osteopenia. This is an area of interest for her and she has lead workshops and classes on bone health and yoga in southern California. Two ectopic pregnancies and several bowel obstructions required the surgical removal of part of her small intestine and undergoing an emergency hysterectomy. Some of the health conditions she experienced were dysmenorrhea (painful menstrual cramps and heavy bleeding)\, dumping syndrome (chronic diarrhea) and anemia. \nShe had a total of 8 surgeries which left her dysfunctional\, depressed\, and hopeless. During her painful ordeal\, she questioned her faith and mortality. Anne made a conscious choice to shift her thinking and commit to living for herself and especially for her daughter. \nIn order to heal herself and begin life anew\, Anne committed herself to the practice of Alternative and Holistic Health\, a commitment and practice which has continued for over 26 years. \nShe has used various disciplines throughout her years of alternative and holistic healing; yoga\, tai chi\, qi-gong\, acupuncture\, Ayurveda\, myofascial massage\, meditation\, breathwork\, visualization/guided imagery\, and energy healing from Master Healers. Once Anne incorporated fitness and positive thinking with her healthier diet\, and lifestyle\, her symptoms ended in 2 1/2 months. \nAs part of Anne’s successful healing process\, she continues to work on her personal & spiritual growth by being in service and contribution to women’s wellness. SUMMARY:11/10 Pratyahara: Nourishing the Senses Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Sensory Therapy Workshop\nJoin us for a transformative yoga workshop centered around the theme of Pratyahara\, the withdrawal of senses. Led by the experienced yoga teacher Chris Henry and accompanied by sound healer Jonah Montes\, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to delve deep into the practice of Pratyahara. Chris will provide insights into the philosophy of Pratyahara\, while Jonah will share practical instructions on the safe and effective use of the head wrap. The workshop will be thoughtfully structured\, beginning with a gentle one-hour yoga sequence led by Chris. Participants will have the option to either close their eyes or wear the head wrap during the practice\, encouraging a heightened sense of introspection. In the second half of the workshop\, Jonah will lead a 15-minute guided relaxation followed by a 35-minute sound bath experience. Using the soothing sounds of quartz crystal singing bowls\, Jonah will create a deeply immersive and meditative atmosphere\, inviting participants to embrace the transformative power of sound. Throughout this segment\, participants are encouraged to wear the head wrap\, further enhancing their sensory withdrawal experience. The workshop will conclude with Chris guiding a brief session of pranayama\, leaving participants feeling rejuvenated\, centered\, and connected to their inner selves.\n \n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\nContraindications — not necessarily needed for the description per say but it could be emailed to the participants.\n \n\nWhile Iyengar head wraps can enhance the yoga practice for many individuals\, it’s important to be mindful of certain contraindications and address them before using the wraps. Here are some considerations:\n \n1. Eye Conditions: If you have any pre-existing eye conditions\, injuries\, or recent eye surgeries\, it’s crucial to consult with your ophthalmologist or healthcare provider before using the wraps. They can assess whether the use of eye wraps is safe and appropriate for your specific situation.\n \n2. Respiratory Issues: Individuals with respiratory conditions\, such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)\, should exercise caution when using the wraps. The pressure or sensation caused by the wraps over the eyes and forehead may potentially affect breathing patterns. It’s advisable to consult with your healthcare provider to determine if using the wraps aligns with your respiratory needs.\n \n3. Claustrophobia or Anxiety: The sensation of having the wraps covering the eyes and forehead may trigger discomfort or anxiety for individuals who experience claustrophobia or have heightened sensitivity to confinement. Recognizing the multitude of health and wellness benefits associated with yoga\, Chris has embraced it as an integral part of his life as a student and teacher. Chris’s unique teaching style harmoniously anchors the principles of power vinyasa and Vini-yoga. \n					\n				\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Drawing from personal experiences\, including injuries sustained during his collegiate athletic career and the everyday stresses inherent in the human condition\, Chris attests to the efficacy of yoga in fostering a profound connection between the body and mind\, and ultimately found as a transformational tool. \nWith an primary focus on the quality of breath\, Chris guides his students towards a deeper understanding of themselves as a whole being. By doing this he enables the individual to effectively process their current states\, while encouraging the release of burdens that no longer serve us. As a teacher\, I hope to share the healing aspect of yoga to anyone who is in need of it. I love teaching Yoga because I not only get to contribute to a student’s yoga journey as a guide but also as a witness to the growth and progression they experience through their practice.\n \nMy teaching style is gentle Yin-inspired Restorative Yoga with elements of Viniyoga.

DESCRIPTION:Workshop Overview\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				We are thrilled to bring two of our most influential teachers to Orange County for an epic Yoga Therapy Weekend! \nLarry Payne\, Ph.D. is an internationally respected yoga teacher and back specialist. The L.A. Times named Larry “One of America’s most respected Yoga teachers”. Larry is founding president of the International Association of Yoga Therapists\, founder of the Corporate Yoga program at the J. Paul Getty Museum\, the first Yoga teacher to offer Yoga classes at the World Economic Forum\, co-founder of the yoga curriculum at UCLA’s School of Medicine\, and the founding director of the new Yoga therapy certification program at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. He studied with Yoga Master\, TKV Desikachar in Chennai\, India. \nRobert Birnberg also studied with TKV Desikachar for many years. For over 25 years\, he served as clinical director of the Breathing Space in Los Angeles\, he offered ongoing Sutras Studies\, Yoga Teacher trainings\, and workshops on Bhavana\, Relationships\, Addiction and Positive Psychology. He has facilitated private Yoga Coaching sessions with hundreds of individuals and couples looking to manifest deeply meaningful lives and satisfying relationships. The L.A. Times named Larry “One of America’s most respected Yoga teachers”. Larry is founding president of the International Association of Yoga Therapists\, founder of the Corporate Yoga program at the J. Paul Getty Museum\, the first Yoga teacher to offer Yoga classes at the World Economic Forum\, co-founder of the yoga curriculum at UCLA’s School of Medicine\, and the founding director of the new Yoga therapy certification program at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn 1979 he was an advertising executive\, plagued with chronic back pain and stress. His quest for relief led him to study Yoga and health in eleven countries and inspired his career change upon certification in India. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn 1980\, Larry founded the Samata Yoga Center in Los Angeles and later earned a Master’s degree and a Doctorate in fitness education with an emphasis in Hatha Yoga from Pacific Western University. His background is in Psychology and he has also completed graduate work in Physical Therapy at Cal-State University at Long Beach. He was the U.S. representative to the first World Congress of Yoga in Montevideo\, Uruguay\, and has received Outstanding Achievement Awards for Yoga in Europe and the United States\, and the Golden Lotus Award from South America. In 2000\, he was a panelist and yoga instructor at the World Economic Forum in Davos\, Switzerland. Teaching allows here to share what she has come to love and has made a part of her life. Trained at the Ananda School for Yoga and Meditation\, she has an alignment base style but also one that encompasses the whole individual meeting him/her where they are in the moment. She is a certified yoga therapist\, C-IAYT. Her meditation techniques are from the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda. \n					\n				\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Susan has participated in an international yoga study that is indicating that yoga can improve bone strength for someone who has osteoporosis or osteopenia. Teaching allows here to share what she has come to love and has made a part of her life. Trained at the Ananda School for Yoga and Meditation\, she has an alignment base style but also one that encompasses the whole individual meeting him/her where they are in the moment. She is a certified yoga therapist\, C-IAYT. Her meditation techniques are from the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda. \n					\n				\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Susan has participated in an international yoga study that is indicating that yoga can improve bone strength for someone who has osteoporosis or osteopenia. All performed live with the intention of healing\, grounding and to create a space for the individuals journey to heal\, expand and thrive. Over the past 21 years\, I have been dedicated to a celestial and sacred journey of deep self exploration\, as well as reconnecting with my own indigenous ancestry from the Andes to the Aleutians. As a visual artist\, I have shown in art galleries across the country. In the past 9 years\, I learned to play over 13+ indigenous instruments alongside an intense education of the rediscovering the true science of sound medicine\, from its original ancient healing practices\, to its modern day re-emergence in the medical fi eld. I am a native Southern Californian\, growing up in the central Orange County\, CA area. Along with being an artist\, I am a Certified Sound Healer\, a Sound Healer Association member\, a Certified Experiential Outdoor Facilitator\, a college professor\, a husband and a dad.

In 1997\, he was certified by Gary Kraftsow of the American Viniyoga Institute to teach asana\, pranayama\, and chanting in the same yoga tradition of his own teacher\, TKV Desikachar. Juris has also completed AVI’s three year training course in the application of yoga as a process for managing acute and chronic conditions. As a faculty assistant for AVI\, he helps with training and developing teachers in this authentic Viniyoga tradition. He shares these living teachings of T Krishnamacharya\, emphasizing appropriately placed\, accurate\, and pragmatically integrated yoga techniques to help one achieve their fullest potential. \nJuris Zinbergs is recognized by the International Association of Yoga Therapists\, as a (C-IAYT) Yoga Therapist. He is also a Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT 500) with Yoga Alliance. He has served as Faculty for the Viniyoga Therapist Training\, (2010-2012)\, Faculty for Viniyoga Foundations Program\, (2011-2015)\, Faculty for Foundations for Yoga Therapy Training\, (2011-2012)\, and Faculty Assistant for AVI Teacher Training and Yoga Therapy Training (2008-2015).

The practice is like a very long savasana\, where you rest in a comfortable position and listen to a guided meditation that rotates your consciousness throughout the body. Yoga Nidra can be defined as: sleep with trace awareness or conscious deep relaxation. Yoga Nidra is a conscious state that occurs between waking consciousness and dreaming consciousness\, also known as “sleepless sleep.” \n\n \n \nWhat are the benefits of yoga nidra?\nThe many benefits of a consistent yoga nidra practice include:\n \n*Decrease in release of stress hormones\n*Decrease in blood pressure levels\n*Decrease in blood glucose levels\n*Pain reduction\n*Improved mood\n*Increased sense of wellness and ease\n*Reduction in anxiety\n*Release of negative samskaras (deeply held impressions in the unconscious mind)\n*Conscious realization of suppressed desires\, emotions\, etc.\n*Experience of profound spiritual insights\n\n \n \n\nWhat do I need to bring?\nYou will be reclined on your yoga mat for about half an hour\, so choose any props that will allow you to remain comfortable.
