We can make a difference in our overall balance by challenging and practicing our balance.\n \nDid you know that 1 out of 5 falls cause a serious injury. Broken bones certainly slow us down and practicing our balance is important when we have bone loss. Falls are also the most common cause of traumatic brain injury (TBI). Falls are preventable and do not have to be an inevitable part of aging.\n \nYoga improves our balance by:\n• creating greater awareness\n• increasing our strength\, flexibility and agility\n• challenging our balance which is necessary to maintain good balance\n \nIn this fun 4 week series we will be: \n• focusing on feet\, ankles\, knees and hips\n• playing with yoga poses in new and different ways to challenge our balance\n• strengthening important muscles used for balance\n• layering on distractions\n \nThis is an ALL levels class. Trained at the Ananda School for Yoga and Meditation\, she has an alignment base style but also one that encompasses the whole individual meeting him/her where they are in the moment. She is a certified yoga therapist\, C-IAYT. Her meditation techniques are from the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda. \n					\n				\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Susan has participated in an international yoga study that is indicating that yoga can improve bone strength for someone who has osteoporosis or osteopenia. DESCRIPTION:Kirtan with Govind Das\nJoin world renowned Yoga Teacher and Kirtan Wallah Govind Das from the Bhakti Yoga Shala for a night of community connection and kirtan. We’ll start the evening with a community potluck in the Tea House from 5:45 – 6:30PM. Please bring a vegetarian dish or beverage for sharing.\n \n \nThe community event will be followed by a kirtan; which is a live music experience of call and response chanting. It’s a bhakti yoga practice designed to focus the mind\, open the heart\, and elevate your spirits. It is a joyful practice open to students of all backgrounds and religions. The sounds / mantras are often in the language of Sanskrit; which is a vibrational language.\n \n \nIf you have not yet experienced the practice of kirtan\, we can’t recommend it more highly. He is the co-director/owner of Bhakti Yoga Shala in Santa Monica CA. Govind Das’s commitment to Bhakti yoga and the ideals of love\, service\, and devotion is the essence which is reflected and transmitted through his music and teachings. His intention is to share yoga in the spirit of celebrating life and developing a personal and intimate connection with Source. Along with all things yoga\, he is a surfer and loves to play basketball. Govind Das leads evenings of kirtan\, bhakti yoga workshops\, presents at festivals and leads transformative retreats throughout the world.  He and his wife Jacqueline live in the hills of Pacific Palisades\, CA overlooking the Great Pacific Ocean with their son Malakai and daughter Ruby Jaya.

Teaching allows here to share what she has come to love and has made a part of her life. Trained at the Ananda School for Yoga and Meditation\, she has an alignment base style but also one that encompasses the whole individual meeting him/her where they are in the moment. She is a certified yoga therapist\, C-IAYT. Her meditation techniques are from the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda. \n					\n				\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Susan has participated in an international yoga study that is indicating that yoga can improve bone strength for someone who has osteoporosis or osteopenia. This is an area of interest for her and she has lead workshops and classes on bone health and yoga in southern California. Noticing the parallels between Yoga and Positive Psychology\, I became a Certified P.P. Coach working to integrate proven Positive Psychology interventions with the time tested tools of classical Yoga Therapy. For over 25 years\, as clinical director of the Breathing Space in Los Angeles\, I offered ongoing Sutras Studies\, Yoga Teacher trainings\, and workshops on Bhavana\, Relationships\, Addiction and Positive Psychology\, I’ve facilitated private Yoga Coaching sessions with hundreds of individuals and couples looking to manifest deeply meaningful lives and satisfying relationships. My first book\, ‘Why Yoga Works\, and How It Can Work For You’ is currently being used as a teacher training manual by Yoga studios worldwide.

We can make a difference in our overall balance by challenging and practicing our balance.\n \nDid you know that 1 out of 5 falls cause a serious injury. Broken bones certainly slow us down and practicing our balance is important when we have bone loss. Falls are also the most common cause of traumatic brain injury (TBI). Falls are preventable and do not have to be an inevitable part of aging.\n \nYoga improves our balance by:\n• creating greater awareness\n• increasing our strength\, flexibility and agility\n• challenging our balance which is necessary to maintain good balance\n \nIn this fun 4 week series we will be: \n• focusing on feet\, ankles\, knees and hips\n• playing with yoga poses in new and different ways to challenge our balance\n• strengthening important muscles used for balance\n• layering on distractions\n \nThis is an ALL levels class.
