These memories can also make it difficult for survivors who are looking to establish a connection in their lives and learn how to trust again. The entire experience of practicing yoga can help survivors find a union between seemingly disconnected and challenging aspects of the self; allowing participants to slowly build the pieces into an integrated whole. \nThe impact trauma has on the body’s physiology is immense and it is essential to provide holistic and alternative forms of healing for survivors. \nThis 3-day training will provide yoga teachers\, mental health professionals\, educators\, administrators\, activists\, medical professionals\, doulas\, coaches\, healers\, or anyone who is interested in teaching from a trauma-informed lens with all of the necessary tools to create a safe environment for survivors of sexual violence. She has ultimately made it her life’s goal to help empower survivors of assault to regain their strength and self-worth. She is extremely passionate about trauma-informed yoga and its ability to help survivors feel empowered in their choices\, access safety\, develop positive coping skills and self-care strategies\, connect to their emotions\, experience self-compassion\, access additional resources in their healing\, and take the necessary steps to become their authentic selves. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nZabie received her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Social Behavior and Education at the University of California\, Irvine. She completed her graduate work in Higher Education Administration and Student Affairs at The George Washington University. Zabie received her 200-hour yoga teacher training certificate through Core Power Yoga and attended a 40-hour workshop on trauma-sensitive yoga instruction through the Justice Resource Institute at the Kriplau Center for Yoga and Health. \nDuring her graduate career\, Zabie engaged in numerous efforts to help prevent sexual assault through her campus role as the Coordinator of Sexual Violence Prevention at The George Washington University. Zabie previously held the Assistant Director role of the Campus Assault Resources and Education (CARE) Office at UC Irvine and UCLA. She is now working as the Program Director of Trauma-Informed Programs in UCLA’s brand new Resilience in your Student Experience Center (RISE). She oversees a number of holistic and culturally-affirming healing programs for students and supports each UC campus with the implementation of the 8-week trauma-informed yoga program for survivors. She is a founding individual practitioner of The Breathe Network\, an organization that connects survivors of sexual violence to holistic healing arts practitioners that offer all services on a sliding scale. She is the Founder and Director of Transcending Sexual Trauma through Yoga\, an organization with the mission of empowering survivors to heal through the practice of yoga. Her organization offers trauma-informed yoga classes for survivors\, trauma-informed yoga in-person and online trainings for healing professionals\, consultation for colleges and agencies interested in integrating this modality into the scope of their work\, speaking engagements\, and mentoring for yoga instructors. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n Zabie consistently advocates for the rights of survivors and works tirelessly to help them find healing. She is widely recognized for her hard work and dedication to her field. Zabie has trained thousands of yoga instructors and mental health professionals and she has created a model trauma-informed yoga program and curriculum for survivors which is now being implemented at Yale\, Stanford University\, Johns Hopkins University\, University of Notre Dame\, Occidental College\, UCLA\, UC Irvine\, UC Santa Barbara\, UC Berkeley\, UC Davis\, UC Riverside\, UC San Francisco\, University of San Francisco\, University of Southern California (USC)\, California State University\, Long Beach\, California State University\, Fullerton\, Cal Poly Pomona\, East Los Angeles Women’s Center\, Center for Pacific Asian Families\, and Community Service Programs (CSP) Rape Crisis Center. She has received countless awards in victim services was recently awarded the Victim Service Award in Orange County for the impact of her yoga program on survivors in the sexual assault and human trafficking unit and the Voice of Courage from Exhale to Inhale. Her work has been highlighted on CNN\, NBC News\, the Huffington Post\, Elephant Journal\, KTLA 5 and in a variety of online publications. She was recently chosen as a lululemon ambassador and they have developed a supportive partnership to provide intentional support for BIPOC survivors of sexual trauma. \nIt has been her dream to fuse her worlds together\, creating a space where survivors can heal by flowing breath to movement through trauma-informed practice. By focusing on a holistic approach\, Zabie is providing survivors with multiple entry points to heal.
