Whether you’re brand new to yoga or looking to deepen an existing practice, private yoga provides a safe and supportive environment to grow at your own pace.

Amanda Shepard, E-RYT500
I’ve been practicing yoga for over 27 years and teaching for more than a decade. My specialties include asana, self-massage, and meditation. I love offering clients a wide range of self-care tools they can use in their daily lives. When I teach asana, I take a “functional anatomy” approach, adapting alignment to each individual’s unique structure. I work with people across a spectrum of abilities, from those with limited mobility or scoliosis to professional athletes.
More than anything, I love teaching self-massage techniques that people can easily replicate at home. My approach to meditation is one of nurturing and curiosity—I guide students to “tune in” rather than “turn off.”
I draw from many styles of yoga, including ashtanga, flow, restoratives, yin, and Yoga Tune Up®. Over the years, I’ve mentored teachers-in-training at several Orange County studios and served as a guest instructor in 200-hour RYT programs.
I completed my RYT certification with YogaWorks in 2012 and continue to deepen my practice as a mentee of Erika Burkhalter. I’ve also studied in extended workshops with world-renowned teachers, including Annie Carpenter, Chuck Miller, Dr. John Casey, Jillian Pransky, Jo Phee, Kino MacGregor, Paul Grilley, Tara Brach, Jack Kornfield, Tom Myers, and the Yoga Tune Up® team, among others.

Karen Duganier, ERYT-200, Reiki Master, Karuna Reiki Master
I’ve always been drawn to the calming and metaphysical aspects of yoga, meditation, and somatic work, especially after navigating the stress of a long career in Corporate Finance and Contract Management. Over 35 years ago, I stepped into my first yoga class and immediately felt its profound effect on my mental health and overall well-being. The quiet movement, breathwork, and reconnection with my authentic self became essential to me.
As my practice deepened, I was inspired to study Reiki and soon discovered how beautifully it complements yoga. Both practices have helped me feel more grounded, mindful, and grateful, benefits I love sharing with others. Reiki is a gentle, hands-on (or near-body) energy healing technique that supports emotional balance and physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. Sessions are personalized, focusing on the body’s energy centers (chakras) to encourage deep relaxation and healing.
I became certified in Hatha yoga 18 years ago, studying with Anusara-trained teachers at Namaste Yoga Studio in Cleveland, OH. I’ve continued learning through workshops with master teachers like Todd Norian, Doug Keller, and Desiree Rumbaugh. I’m also certified as a Reiki Master in both the Usui and Karuna traditions.
Today, I teach a gentle yoga class infused with Reiki at Be the Change and lead the studio’s Reiki Training Certification Program and Sound Bath + Reiki workshops. I also offer private Reiki sessions and one-on-one yoga classes that include meditation and energy work.
