Yoga Etiquette

Cultivating Respect & Presence

To maintain a peaceful and respectful environment for all, we kindly ask that you follow these guidelines:

  1. Arrive Early: Please arrive 5–10 minutes before class begins. Late arrivals will only be admitted if you call ahead. This is for your safety and out of respect for the group’s shared experience. (There will be a 5-minute grace period)
  2. Silence Your Phone: Phones must be on airplane mode or left outside the studio. Vibrations and notifications disrupt the calm of our practice space.
  3. Shoes Off: Please remove shoes and leave them in the hallway cubbies before entering the studio.
  4. Go Scent-Free: Kindly avoid heavy perfumes or scented lotions. Some students are sensitive or allergic.
  5. Clean Borrowed Mats: If you use a studio mat, please clean it thoroughly after class.
  6. Practice Quietude: We love community, and we also value quiet. Please keep voices low in the yoga rooms and hallway before and after class so others can enjoy a moment of stillness. We encourage you to connect with others in the Tea Room before or after class.
  7. Honor the Space: Please stay for the full duration of class, including savasana. If you need to leave early, let the instructor know in advance and exit quietly.

Thanks for helping keep this space sacred, safe, & welcoming for all.

If you have your own mat, we recommend brining your own mat but we do offer complimentary mats for our clients that are washed after each use.

Bring a water bottle but a towel is not necessary.

We offer props that include: blankets, blocks, and yoga straps.

How do I schedule a Private Session?

If you’d like to schedule a private session, it’s best to start by choosing the modality or the instructor. You can review all our wellness services under the wellness tab on the main menu, then choose the specific modality page, and book a session from there.

Touch and Consent

We understand the ethics and boundaries around touch. Our highly trained instructors or yoga therapist will always ask for permission before making hands on adjustments. We offer trauma-informed practices to do our best that all our students feel comfortable, safe, and empowered in their practice.

What if I have an injury?

Please arrive 10-15 minutes early and let the front desk staff know you have a specific condition. If you have challenges with balance or dizziness, please put your yoga mat next to a wall or one of the beams for support. You are also welcome to use a yoga chair for support.

When the instructor arrives, please introduce yourself to the instructor and  let them know about any injuries, special needs or conditions. They will be able to offer modifications and / or customize the yoga postures to meet your needs and keep you safe.

In some cases, the instructor or front desk staff may recommend another class that is a better fit for your abilities.

It’s our goal at Be The Change Yoga to keep you safe and support you in developing the best practices for your needs.
