In the spirit of the ancient Bhakti tradition, the Shakti Bhakti Troupe has been providing kirtans to the Orange County community at Yoga Shakti Studio for over 20 years. The kirtans are secular, universally appealing, uplifting and uniting.

The troupe draws inspiration from its rich and unbroken lineage of Shakti worship via the Sri Vidya tradition. Whether a melodious tune, a heart-wrenching divine call, or a thunderous, roaring, ferocious dance—the expressions of devotion, love, gratitude, homage, surrender, faith and oneness of all beings is ever- present as we spin alongside the unknown on this blue marble.

Each kirtan is chosen to focus on the essence of love—be it the mother’s love for her child, the tug of a lover’s heart, the bond of a friend, or the awestruck, grateful soul of a devotee—the flow is always toward the Universal Consciousness, whether a personal God or a Divine without attributes, sparking spiritual wisdom.

As a collective, this troupe of experienced musicians, led by Mariza, creates a space that allows for a soulful experience beyond kirtan. Each Shakti Bhakti event leads one through a celebratory and powerful call-and-response practice of mantra accompanied by music.

In keeping with our longstanding commitment to offer an authentic experience of Yoga to our community, Shakti Bhakti may also include in its kirtans storytelling, yoga philosophy, and spontaneous audience jam sessions.
