Yoga + Public Health Course Begins March 24th!

Led by Katie Allen, this course is the backbone of our 300hr training and explores the various factors that influence health at the macro-level using a public health lens, while at the same time, exploring the inner world of the human being using Yoga models to identify and treat imbalances, including: musculoskeletal ailments, heart disease, respiratory / energetic imbalances, addiction, obesity, relationships etc. This 10-month course meets one Friday per month from 6:00-9:30pm starting March 24th.

The public health perspective examines why current interventions have been ineffective at curbing the chronic disease epidemic with the majority of Americans dying from heart disease, smoking, cancer, diabetes and obesity related illnesses that can largely be prevented with changes in diet, lifestyle and stress management. This course explores the various applications of yoga as a public health solution; addresses the underlying causes of chronic conditions and provides a time-tested holistic healing system.

Be The Change Yoga is collaborating with the Melinda Hoag Smith Center for Healthy Living (MHSCHL) located in Newport Beach. We provide weekly group yoga therapy classes in English and Spanish for underserved communities.

Read more about it in the Heart of Hoag Magazine – December 2016 Issue

In addition, the MHSCHL is an internship placement site for our Yoga Therapist Training interns. What an honor to partner with such a prestigious organization. We are committed to expanding the field of Yoga Therapy throughout Orange County!

We believe Yoga is so much more than a physical practice, it is the art and science of self-reflection and self-refinement. At Be The Change, we provide group classes for students of all levels, backgrounds and health conditions in non-heated studios, while integrating tools for self-care and personal development into every class. We pride ourselves on offering modifications for every pose, so students can practice safely in a group class setting and customize their practice. We also offer a wide array of integrative wellness services, so students can integrate additional healing modalities into their lives. In addition, we are proud to host Orange County’s first Yoga Therapist Training aligned with the standards of the International Association of Yoga Therapists.
