8/21 Community Acupuncture

August 21, 2017 @ 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm

$30

This event is open to students of all backgrounds and health conditions.

Community acupuncture is practiced in a group, rather than one-on-one, setting. Don’t worry! You won’t be baring much skin. Our large studio will be open for this 2-hour window every Monday. Treatment will take about 35 minutes, but participants are welcome to stay the entire time. The treatments are primarily on the front of the body and mainly on distal points (legs, arms, hands, feet, ears, etc.). This is the way that acupuncture is traditionally done in China. Community-style treatments are more affordable so that people can get the amount of treatment they need in a shorter period of time. The idea is to make acupuncture as accessible as possible.  By offering treatment in a serene group environment, everyone collectively shares the healing ambiance which enhances the effects. Not to mention that it’s just more fun to get acupuncture with your friends and family, rather than in a room all by yourself!

The People’s Organization of Community Acupuncture (POCA; www.pocacoop.com) is an organization of acupuncturists who practice community-style acupuncture, and their site is a great resource for learning about community acupuncture.  You can also check out more info about Lydia at www.blueheartacu.com
