2/12 FREE Intro to Meditation
February 12, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
What is Primordial Sound Meditation?
Primordial Sound Meditation is derived from an ancient meditation system. Deepak Chopra MD and the late David Simon MD consulted with meditation masters in India and revised an ancient meditation technique to make it more accessible to the busy Western mind. In Primordial Sound Meditation (PSM), people are given a specific sound or mantra to silently repeat during their meditation. The mantra chosen is fundamental to their human makeup. When we allow this sound to resonate in our awareness, we move beyond the noisy thought chatter in our minds and experience a deeper realm of stillness and silence. Accessing this field of silence in meditation on a regular basis leads to making choices that enhance our health, wellbeing, relationships and happiness.
PSM is easily learned, even for people with no prior meditation experience. Mind-wandering happens to everyone in meditation and is not a barrier to meditation.

Michael Farley, MD is a retired physician who enjoys teaching meditation to people who want to become healthier and happier. In 1970, Farley took a leave of absence from college to study Transcendental Meditation with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi for 6 months in Europe. After medical school, Farley completed residency training in two fields: pediatrics and ophthalmology. In 2003, Farley was forced to retire from ophthalmology practice after developing visual complications from arthritis medications.
Once a new arthritis medication helped him starting walking and driving again, Farley went to the Chopra Center for Wellbeing to study meditation and Ayurveda with Deepak Chopra MD and the late David Simon MD. As Farley began to heal, he became a certified instructor in Primordial Sound Meditation (PSM) and in Perfect Health and a certified Ayurvedic Consultant. Farley helped at the Chopra Center to train new teachers in PSM and the Perfect Health program for 7 years. In 2009, Farley also began teaching weekly meditation and wellness classes at the Friendship Shelter in Laguna Beach. Because of this experience with homeless clients, Farley became a trained teacher of Mindful Self-Compassion, so he could share this knowledge with those facing difficult circumstances.
