Course Overview

For Yoga Teachers, learn correct applications of a wide variety of pranayama practices for therapeutic purposes.

This 9 hour Weekend Intensive is led by Yoga Therapist Juris Zinbergs. This intensive lays down the foundation for trainees in all levels of our programming to gain a correct and thorough understanding of the energetic body, as well as tools and practices to work with this layer. Trainees will learn the proper techniques of various pranayama practices that range from the most basic to the most advanced; as well as the discernment of how to correctly apply such practices.

Pranayama is more subtle than asana and a person’s respiratory pattern and energy levels provides us with a lot of information about their current health status. During this intensive, trainees will gain tools and models to assess the energetic body, identify areas that may be out of balance and provide customize pranayama practices to balance the pranamaya kosha.

Surendra Mehta MBA, C-IAYT, RYT-200

Surendra Mehta, is a certified yoga therapist, and graduate of the Loyola Marymount University (LMU), Los Angeles, Yoga Therapy and Teachers Training programs. In addition he studied at the Indian Yoga Institute in India, and with teachers including Dr. Nagendra. Surendra studied Yoga Nidra at Bihar School of Yoga, and is a direct disciple of Yog Swami Ram Dev, known for his Pranayama teachings. Currently he is studying Prime of Life Yoga® with internationally known yoga teacher Dr. Larry Payne PhD.

Surendra has been practicing Yoga since 1994 and teaching since 2001. He conducts Pranayama and Yoga Nidra workshops for individuals, small groups and corporations. He teaches at Yoga Therapy and Teacher Training programs at LMU and other schools.
